    In alignment with strategic goals and recent growth, Tacony is seeking an experienced Vice President of Retail Sales to drive independent retailer success, to provide strong sales management, to influence innovative product development and to steer future growth for its Retail Sales Division. In addition to having managed successful national retail accounts, Tacony’s Vice President of Sales must bring proven sales management experience, compelling product development expertise, an owner’s mentality, and, a passion for empowering the independent retailer in an ever-evolving retail and eCommerce landscape.

     

    Responsibilities

    Reporting directly to Tacony’s Senior Vice President of Retail Sales, the ideal candidate will:

     

    • PROVIDE SALES STRATEGY – Serve as key leader and partner closely Tacony’s SVP on sales strategy and implementation of both short- and long-term goals for the Retail Sales Division. Model entrepreneurial leadership and foster a continued commitment to empowering the success of our independent retailer base.
    • DRIVE INDEPENDENT RETAILER SUCCESS & SUPPORT – Serve as chief thought leader and advisor to independent retailers. Partner closely with regional sales managers to drive, design, and influence best retailer practices. Promote experiential sales models with retailers. Influence customer service operations to ensure Tacony is cultivating retailer relationships towards increased revenue and retailer loyalty. Manage and resolve retailer issues by communicating and engaging with the appropriate internal resources.
    • INSPIRE HIGH-PERFORMING SALES TEAMS – Provide inspirational team leadership and serve as a sales leadership resource for team of 15 regional sales managers. Develop, retain, recruit, and, hold accountable productive team members dedicated to the success of independent retailers. Visit regions to develop retailer relationships and to further support sales efforts. Track performance and provide meaningful feedback. Assume eventual oversight for inside sales team and other functional team members as necessary to support Tacony goals and growth strategy.
    • DRIVE PROFITABILITY – Partner closely with CFO and SVP to provide effective and proactive P&L management. Drive revenue growth, gross margins and earnings for Retail Sales Division. Analyze, create, and, present sales reports and forecasts to leadership. Lead the sales forecasting effort for the retail division to meet long-term goals for profitable sales.
    • COLLABORATE WITH MARKETING, eCOMMERCE, ENGINEERING, MANUFACTURING & OPERATIONS – Partner closely with marketing and eCommerce to identify and implement opportunities to enhance Tacony’s brands and to drive online retailer sales. Influence and align internal stakeholders in operations and engineering through active participation in new product development efforts. Review NPD trigger documents and provide both field and financial input. Ensure that the evolving needs of independent retailers and changing retail conditions continue to drive new product development efforts.

     

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 12-15+ years progressive sales and sales leadership experience, including participation as a senior member of a management team and/or business unit.
    • Experience must include 5+ years in a sales management role requiring oversight of and management for regional teams, territory managers, and/or individual sales contributors.
    • Demonstrated success in managing national account relationships, including successful partnerships with big box retailers and/or equivalent major accounts.
    • Proven ability to master knowledge of various markets, to gain competitive research and to manage multiple sales channels.
    • Prior involvement in new product development and related marketing initiatives a must.
    • Prior experience in CPG/retail industries a strong plus.
    • Strong business and financial acumen, including prior P&L management experience.
    • 4-year degree required; MBA and/or related graduate degree strongly preferred.

    • Willingness to travel to industry trade shows, customer locations and facilities worldwide.
    • Solid technology skills, including a proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Salesforce and PowerPoint.

     

    Compensation Package:

Compensation for this position includes a base salary with bonus based on annual goals.
