    We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer who can provide the vision for finance and accounting over a portfolio of business units with strong communication skills. Our ideal candidate will lead the identification and implementation of new systems and processes to improve accounts payable and accounts receivable, expense management, and create the analysis and reports to drive cost and efficiency enhancements.

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the company President, responsibilities include:

    • EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIPDirect the organization’s financial goals, objectives and budgets.  As an integral part of the leadership team, participate in leading the company’s growth strategy and ensuring that profit is maximized in a manner consistent with the company’s culture.
    • FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT – Oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting procedures, financial reporting and performance analysis. Report on past performance and prepare future projections. Create departmental profit and loss, budget and variance reports, partnering with operations to enhance productivity and profitability. Provide oversight and support to Empire Group and their portfolio of companies (ECS, Gestion-Jaymac [SBI International], Sky Park, Empire Properties, and Stag)
    • CASH MANAGEMENT – Be the protector of cash. Collaborate with operations to produce accurate, complete and timely forecasts for proactive planning. Forecast future billings, collections, payables, costs and expenses to manage the balance sheet effectively. Improve key performance indicators and inform high quality, financial decision-making.
    • LEAN ACCOUNTING:  Create the vision for lean accounting and drive the changes necessary to implement accounting processes that support ongoing lean transformations.
    • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT – Lead technology enhancements to support growth, improve responsiveness to customers and support our efforts to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Serve as a catalyst for change, continuously challenging the status quo.
    • TEAM LEADERSHIPBuild and coach a strong accounting team. Direct the full lifecycle of staff development including recruitment, hiring, training, managing, coaching and terminating when appropriate.  Foster a culture that promotes employee engagement and teamwork consistent with our core values.  Coach and enable staff to effectively interact with all departments.
    • RISK MANAGEMENTIdentify, analyze and manage risk.  Recognize opportunities and provide recommendations to improve workers’ compensation liability. Establish improved security and controls on accounting practices if necessary.  Ensure company is in compliance with all finance, accounting and business requirements, including EEOC. 
    • CULTURE – Be a role model for how we treat customers, employees, dealers/reps and all other constituents. Maintain exemplary professional and ethical behavior at all times. 
    • LOCATION – St. Louis metro-area is required for this role. This position will be based in our corporate office in Belleville, IL. Relocation to the local and/or

     

    Qualifications

    • At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance culminating into a strategic financial leadership role.
    • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment is highly desired.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.  An MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
    • A strong leadership record with demonstrated excellence at working with the senior leadership team in driving strategy and sound business management practices.
    • Experience managing banking and external advisor relations.
    • M&A exposure in terms of due diligence and integration is preferred.

    • Must excel in an entrepreneurial, dynamic environment and take on new responsibilities as necessary.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, inclusive of the ability to interact and work well across all levels of the company. Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills are expected.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, while demonstrating the ability to delegate tasks appropriately and maintain attention to detail.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and resolve conflict in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Team player who is willing and able to adapt their approach across a diverse employee base and is able to handle challenges from others.
    • Must be open and flexible to ideas and suggestions from others.
    • Operates within the highest of ethical standards.
    • Ability to grasp technology, understanding the capabilities of accounting systems. Self-sufficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
