    Founded in 1956 by the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (ASCJ), Cor Jesu Academy (“CJA”) has fostered a strong and vibrant Catholic tradition in educating young women in Grades 9-12. Deeply rooted in ASCJ-inspired charism, CJA’s college- and career-preparatory program is known as much for empowering young women to transform the world for good through faith, compassion, integrity and impassioned service to others as it is for academic rigor and its innovative educational approaches. With over 5,550 alumnae, CJA maintains an annual enrollment of nearly 600 students who are supported by 90+ dedicated faculty, staff, and religious sisters.     In alignment with strategic objectives, CJA is proud to announce a leadership opportunity for a talented and innovative Director of Advancement. This newly-defined role will offer the right individual with strong relationship building skills and marketing savvy the opportunity to provide a strategic vision, inspirational team leadership, and general oversight for CJA’s annual giving, major event, corporate partnership, student admission, and alumnae relations programs.



    Reporting directly to CJA’s President, Sr. Barbara Thomas, this new leader will:


    • DRIVE CJA’s FUNDRAISING STRATEGY & ANNUAL GIVING – Oversee growth of annual fundraising in close partnership with CJA’s President and Director of Leadership Giving (major gifts). Determine long-range strategies and develop building blocks to assist in achievement of annual development goals. Lead special campaigns to support operations and serve as a liaison to the Advancement Committee on CJA’s Board.
    • PROVIDE INSPIRATIONAL TEAM LEADERSHIP – Build and maintain a high-performing team while promoting a healthy sense of accountability, clear direction, and a culture of continuous improvement. Provide strategic leadership to a team of seven (7) employees. Model and promote teamwork and pursuit of best practices. Continuously generate a flow of innovative and entrepreneurial ideas and strategies for CJA’s advancement efforts
    • MANAGE CJA’s INDIVIDUAL DONOR PORTFOLIO – Model effective donor cultivation through management and growth of an individual donor portfolio. Build relationships to further engage and inspire individual donors.
    • OVERSEE CJA’s MARKETING & COMMUNICATION STRATEGY – Provide oversight for CJA’s marketing and community outreach activities, including the development of specific communication strategies tied to donor relations, admissions, alumnae relations and corporate partners. Ensure and promote a robust social media presence to highlight school accomplishments. Provide leadership to ensure consistent branding and messaging for all constituents.


    Compensation Package:


    CJA is proud to offer a competitive compensation package, including health insurance, FSA, long-term disability, pension and 403(b) retirement plans, and, participation in a unique reciprocal tuition agreement consortium program with several other local high schools. In addition to sick days, holiday pay, and, extended time off for the Christmas Holidays, CJA also provides a generous six (6) weeks of vacation for staff members.



    • Passion for Catholic education, including CJA’s unique dedication to “sharing the love of the heart of Christ” in all mission advancement duties.
    • Minimum of 10-15+ years professional experience, including no less than 5+ years as a team manager with responsibility for direct reports.
    • Must offer strong relationship-building skills. Either a proven track record in securing funds or an aptitude for fund development, including an appreciation for fund development with both individuals and corporate partners.
    • Must bring team management experience and the ability to actively develop talent. The ability to inspire and motive others as well as to manage conflict is critical. Demonstrated abilities to foster a healthy departmental culture through teamwork and collaboration is essential.
    • Prior experience in developing marketing strategies, communication and/or recruitment plans, and, in managing PR and media relations is also essential.
    • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation skills) and an engaging public speaker. An ability to quickly build rapport and trust among various school constituents, including faculty, staff, advisory board, alumnae, current and incoming families, and all volunteers is necessary.
    • Excellent grasp on technology, including MS Office applications and social media platforms.
