    Trademark is now seeking a talented Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. This is the perfect role for an individual contributor who wants to work 15-20 hours per week with no supervisory responsibilities.  Reporting to the Owner and working closely with the CFO, our part-time Accountant will be responsible for overseeing AR/AP accounting entries, excise tax filings and compliance.  You may be our ideal candidate if you are an organized, goal-oriented self-starter with accounting/bookkeeping experience.

    Responsibilities

    As our part-time Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Your duties will include:

     

    1. ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE: You will oversee receipt of funds being paid to the organization. Ensure the accuracy of the receipt process by following proper accounting procedures. On a daily basis, you will apply all payments received to customer accounts and deposit the checks into the bank via electronic remote deposit system. You will maintain file of deposits and checks which can be used in the monthly bank account reconciliation.  On an as needed basis, you will submit invoices on line to EFT payment providers, research and resolve payment discrepancies, process credit card payments, post credit memos and make adjustments to customer accounts.
    2. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: You will oversee processes associated with recording vendor invoices and payment of vendor invoices. Ensure the accuracy of the accounts payable by following proper accounting procedures. On a daily basis, you will record vendor invoices into the accounts payable and file paperwork in vendor invoice unpaid file.  On a weekly basis, you will post payments to vendor accounts and file paid invoices in the vendor invoice paid file.  On an as needed basis, you will communicate with vendors to resolve problems.
    3. EXCISE TAX: You will oversee the excise tax reporting process to ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of excise tax.  On a daily basis, you will maintain excise tax file of wine received.  On a monthly basis, you will prepare the excise tax summary schedules and submit tax returns to the proper state tax collection agency.  You will respond to tax agency’s request for explanation of tax reporting variances.
    4. CUSTOMER SERVICE: You will partner and communicate with co-workers, management, clients/customers, and all others in a courteous and professional manner.
    5. ANALYTICS: You will develop systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies. Partner with CFO on appropriate fiscal strategies. Review records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
    6. OTHER PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED

    Qualifications

    What Does It Take to Succeed in This Role?

    1. Minimum of 5 years professional accounting experience.
    2. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience in accounting functions.
    3. CPA designation a plus but not required.
    4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    5. Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills a must.
    6. Versatile, flexible, and willing to work enthusiastically within a constantly changing environment.
