Having successfully met a $250 million goal for capital projects and early endowment needs, the Gateway Arch Park Foundation (GAPF), a non-profit organization, now stewards the invigorating improvements made through the city’s recent CityArchRiver project. GAPF will continue to work in partnership with the National Park Service, Great Rivers Greenway, St. Louis City, Bi-State Development, Missouri Department of Transportation, and other civic interest groups. GAPF is pleased to announce the expansion of its development team to include a new Assistant Development Director. Focused on growing memberships and promoting sponsorships, our Assistant Development Director will join us in making history this summer and serve as a valued member of the conservancy’s team. With the anticipation of worldwide exposure in Summer 2018, there has never been a more exciting time for Saint Louis!

Responsibilities

Reporting to GAPF’s Director of Development, the Assistant Development Director, a full-time salaried position, will …

 

  • PROMOTE OUR MISSION: Passionately support the Foundation’s mission. Present to current and prospective donor groups on the Foundation’s mission and current initiatives. Serve as a community ambassador. Advocate in the Foundation’s best interest and generate positive energy and PR for upcoming Foundation events.
  • GROW MEMBERSHIP: Design and implement strategies to reach new potential members. Promote membership benefits and cultivate members at Foundation events. Make recommendations to further member engagement. Support the Young Friends Advisory Board and assist in developing best outreach practices to grow Young Friends.
  • ATTRACT SPONSORSHIPS: Develop a strategy to generate interest with small- and mid-sized corporations to cultivate event sponsors and corporate members. Proactively identify and cultivate corporate contacts on the Foundation’s behalf. Assist with grant applications required for event sponsorship and donation inquiries as appropriate.
  • PRODUCE SPECIAL EVENTS: Spearhead events related to membership initiatives and donor cultivation efforts. Partner closely with marketing and communications to assist with event branding, promotions, digital marketing, invitations, and event signage. Serve as staff liaison to Foundation partners and as primary contact for major donors seeking event rentals, including permitting and concierge service during planning processes. Develop and manage event budgets, timelines and required staffing for proper facilitation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7+ years direct development and fundraising experience and/or comparable event planning experience for a public, non-profit, and/or parks and recreation setting.
  • Proven experience managing an event budget and related financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated relationship building experience with donor base and/or event sponsors.
  • Working knowledge and appreciation of development and fundraising, including best practices in identifying and stewarding donors and corporate sponsors.
  • The ability to work some nights and weekends as needed for Foundation events.
  • Excellent computer skills including intermediate level of proficiency or above with Microsoft office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook) and working knowledge of project management software.
  • 4-year college degree strongly preferred.
