With future success tied to its operational excellence and strategic acquisitions, Tacony is now seeking a determined and results-oriented Chief Operating Officer (COO) who brings strong operational expertise and prior executive leadership experience, coupled with strong people-skills and a passion for process improvement to our growing organization. Our COO will manage several teams responsible for Tacony’s customer-centric product, distribution, and manufacturing functions. This newly-defined position will provide day-to-day leadership and be responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the CEO, the ideal candidate will:

 

  • PROVIDE ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP – Partner closely with Tacony’s CEO to continue developing and implementing a robust strategic vision and operational growth strategy. Lead by example with un-reproachable ethical standards, high integrity, unparalleled customer service, and great enthusiasm about our business to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • SET PROFITABLE GROWTH STRATEGY – Drive the profitability of the company to ensure success of short- and long-term growth plans. Partner with CEO to effectively deploy capital and manage cash and liabilities effectively. Work closely with domestic and international sales operations and assist in evaluating M&A opportunities necessary to achieve Tacony’s desired growth strategies.
  • LEAD A HIGH-PERFORMING TEAM – Lead, motivate, and develop high-performance teams. Inspire trust and credibility between employees as modeled through personal leadership. Grow and mentor existing bench strength with a focus on developmental opportunities and career pathing. Promote Tacony’s culture by conveying a high degree of emotional intelligence and by creating an atmosphere of open communication and personal accountability.
  • DRIVE OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE – Drive performance improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to improve operational effectiveness as measured by quality, timeliness and safety in plant locations. Maximize cost control and efficiencies with in-house printing, bindery, shipping and operations. Optimize the use of new ERP system for internal production management. Develop and apply sustainable lean practices to implement process improvements for business unit operations.
  • SPEARHEAD PRODUCT INNOVATION – Understand markets and market drivers for key customers and industry sources. Advance new product development ideas and enhancements to keep existing product line current and to enhance the use of automation and technology.
  • ENSURE QUALITY & DESIGN – Oversee operations in four (4) U.S.-based manufacturing facilities, plus our plant in Southhampton, England, and quality office in Suzhouz, China. Ensure safety and efficacy in top-quality products through the direction and design oversight of Tacony’s R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • SERVE OUR COMMUNITY – Model our service philosophy through family-style leadership. Identify opportunities to give back and to strengthen the communities in which we work and serve.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive operational leadership, including specific prior experience in both manufacturing plants and distribution-based business environments.
  • Proven experience and successful implementation of company-wide continuous improvement strategies including lean systems design, resulting in improved quality, lead-time and productivity.
  • Strong technology skills including operations systems and ERP software experience. Experience with Epicor ERP Software a plus.
  • Prior M&A experience and related success in facilitating successful mergers of business units.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree (MBA, EMBA) is strongly preferred.

Location:    

          

This position will be based in our corporate office in Fenton, Missouri. Relocation to the local and/or Metro-St. Louis area is required for this role. Relocation assistance may be provided.

 

 

Compensation Package:

Compensation for this position includes a base salary with bonus based on annual goals.
